Programs that endeavor to help developing countries, newly independent nations, countries transitioning from conflict to peace and other nations in need of educational reform build schools, train teachers, develop curricula and take other steps to improve the quality and effectiveness of their educational systems with the objective of ensuring that all people, including young children, girls, women, ethnic minorities, out-of-school youth and adults and other underserved or disadvantaged populations, have access to basic educational programming as well as higher education and vocational training opportunities. Also included are organizations that raise and distribute funds for the benefit of overseas educational institutions.
